Rangers vs Canadiens
Like a dream come true in New York!
My first live NHL game in maybe 20 years – at Madison Square Gardens in NY.
I bought a Canadiens jersey just for the occasion. That was fun.
At Madison Square Gardens the security is like at an airport – everything out of your pockets, X-ray scans etc. I expected them to ask me if I was at the game for business or pleasure…
Instead the police officer at security looked at my jersey and said, “There is a $10 shirt charge if you plan to wear that in.” People in New York are hilarious. We got to our seat and another guy said, “You need to sit way up at the top in the very back row!” All the while smiling and shaking my hand.
Went to an Irish pub after the game after the Habs won and a Rangers fan at the bar took one look at my shirt and said, “Congratulations. Screw you!” Then he turned to the bar tender and said, “I am buying this man one drink of his choice!”
It seems to me that is New York in three short sentences. Congratulations. Screw you. Let me buy you a drink.
